A Portrait in Flesh was recorded on the same tour that the Bowie release ‘David Live’ was made.This recording is rawer and less polished than ‘David Live’ as that recording was made over several nights and produced specifically for general release. However this version includes Bowie occasionally teasing the audience between tracks talking nonsense in a contrived accent and wholly captures the flavour of a live gig.

David Bowie Live At The Universal Amphitheatre Los Angeles 9-5-74
A fantastic recording from the gig in Los Angeles at the Universal Amphitheatre on the 5th September 1974. This originates from Australia and was known as the Hot release. This is because that instead of using a label, There was small print on the rear of the sleeve proclaiming the release to be a RCA/CASTLE release. Because of this, many record dealers wouldn’t handle it, although it could be found in many regular record shops across Europe. This was also called Strange Fascination , which was released in 1990.
