Cheap Trick - Authorized Greatest Hits download free

A great collection of a great band. The stuff they're best known for is here ("I Want You to Want Me", "Surrender", "Dream Police", etc.), alongside some nice surprises - how'd I miss out on "Southern Girls" before listening to this? What's keeping me from rating this a full five stars is that the sequencing is chronologically inconsistent, about 1/4 of the songs aren't really prime Cheap Trick ("The Flame", anyone?), the liner notes single out "Stop This Game" as a defining moment for bassist Tom Petersson as opposed to the song that's home to what may be Robin Zander's finest vocal performance, and I really don't know why "If You Want My Love" is presented in the version available on the Sex, America, Cheap Trick box set when they coulda just slapped on the hit version. (I do applaud the band for picking the much-sought-after 45 edit of "Southern Girls", though!)Still, there's a lot to like here. Although it's been usurped by the 2004 double-whammy The Essential Cheap Trick, this is the way to go if you want the 43-years-and-counting career of the boys from Rockford summarized on one disc.
