Zelienople specializes in spacious compositions, and on HIS/HERS, they bring a minimal atmosphere to bear, as "Family Beast" circles around a sole guitar at its start, with some background drones, until additional guitars and a plaintive voice make their entrance. "Moss Man" lingers more, before it dives into a crush of chaotic sound. "Parts Are Lost" starts off traditionally as well (though steeped in reverb) but drifts off into the nether, and "Forced March" starts out like a dirge worthy of Bataan before easing off. "Sweet Ali" returns to the spare, letting the sound sit quietly with itself. Chilly, but good.
