Dr. Smiley - L'Echo Dechavanne download free

One of those crazy histories of Belgian new beat. L'EchoDechavanne was a record made as a revenge against French talkshowhost Christophe Dechavanne. Dechavanne had a popular show on French television called "Ciel Mon Mardi" in the 80's. In one episode he invited the faces, producers and people in general that made Belgian New beat and basicaly ridiculed them before millions of spectators, more or less declaring that New Beat (dancemusic in general) was a really small storm in a glass of water and would never be as much respected as "French Chanson" or Pop/Rock music (I am being rather mild now, have a look at the original episode, culty stuff !!). As a revenge the Belgians retaliated quite in an orignal way. That was by using their samplers instead of written words. Cutting up bits and pieces from the famous episode and putting some rather funny and nasty words in the mouth of Christophe Dechavanne (if you understand French you're in for quite a treat ;-)) ... Finaly Dechavanne didn't get the joke and went to court against this record, he won and all the remaining copies of this 12" had to be destroyed. Now 17 years later : dancemusic AND Christophe Dechavanne are still very popular, quite a bizarre twist of irony !!
